The BBC Proms, an annual summer music festival, is set to welcome a diverse range of artists this year, including Guy Garvey of Elbow, Weyes Blood, and Gruff Rhys. This year's edition, running from July 17 to September 12, promises to be a unique blend of genres, with a focus on rock, indie, and alternative artists taking center stage alongside the orchestra. One of the standout events is the first-ever Prog Rock Prom, led by the legendary Carl Palmer and Peter Hammill, who will be joined by Guy Garvey, Gruff Rhys, and Jane Weaver. This event marks a significant departure from the traditional classical music focus of the Proms, showcasing the versatility and relevance of the orchestra to various musical styles. The festival also features symphonic tributes to iconic artists like ELP, Genesis, and Jethro Tull, performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra. Additionally, Weyes Blood will present an intimate late-night Prom, collaborating with Jules Buckley and his orchestra, while Nadine Shah will team up with the Royal Northern Sinfonia in Gateshead. The Proms' commitment to exploring diverse musical landscapes is evident in events like 'Round Midnight,' a live edition of Radio 3's acclaimed jazz show hosted by Jamie Cullum, and 'Bond and Beyond,' a musical homage to the James Bond films. The festival's inclusive nature, as emphasized by Hannah Donat, Director of Artistic Planning, ensures that audiences can experience the orchestra's power and versatility across a wide range of genres. With up to 1,000 tickets available for each show at a price of £8, the BBC Proms 2026 is set to be a memorable celebration of music, offering something unexpected and unforgettable for all music lovers.
